There are the vertical and the horizontal suspensions, which are structured again in different varieties depending on at which body locations the hooks are fixed and thus in which position the body hangs.
To the vertical suspensions belongs the suicide-suspension (hooks are fixed at the upper back), the chest-suspension (hooks are located in the upper chest area), the knee-suspension (hooks are placed sidewise at the knees) and the lotus-suspension (hooks are applied at the back and the legs).
To the horizontal suspensions count the coma-suspension (several hooks are put at the front of the body from the upper body through to the shinbones), the Superman-suspension (opposed to the coma-suspension, hooks are located at the back of the body from the shoulder blades through to the calves) and the ressurrection-suspension (hooks are fixed at th ebelly and the thorax).
Mostly special made hooks with a material thickness from 4mm to 5mm are used.
The risks by suspensions are relative high. So complications could appeared already during the attachment of the hooks (infections, passing on of diseases), if this happens under insufficient hygiene. During the hanging it can come to circulatory troubles or even to unconsciousness. Further the hooks can tear out by unprofessional handling.
