By all of these composites the nickel content is lower than 0.05%. A nickel content above this limit value (such as in surgical steel or silver) most often involves allergic reactions. Though the canaliculus is healed the variety of jewellery is unlimited. But absolutely you should take care that the body jewellery has a smooth surface, no matter which material is involves. Otherwise there unattractive skin swellings around the piercing can appear.

No nickel by initial application!

Nickelous materials above a certain limit value are generally forbidden for initial application of piercing jewellery.

Inside the EG/EU the law about the settlement of the usage of nickel was inured in january 2000. The decree was accrued because of apprehensions concerning to allergic reactions and hypersensitivity to nickel. Due to the decree problems should be reduced, which are caused by this metal.

According to the law no more products with above 0.05% nickel mustn´t come in contact with open wounds. Products, which come in contact with the skin over a longer period, mustn´t release above 0.5µg nickel per cm².

Surgical steel (316L) for example contains among 6 - 13% nickel and so it mustn´t applied before the healing of the canaliculus.
