The nipple piercing can be stitched through the nipple or the areola in anyone direction, whereby the horizontal or vertical direction is the most common.
There is also the possibility to stitch several piercings one above the other or rectangular. Beside the aesthetical charm this piercing brings about a sensitivity aggravation.
Because at this part don´t run some bloodstreams or nerve pathways, normally the stitching isn´t very complicated but it should be achieved by a professional piercer. Certainly you should take care of right not too tight clothing during the healing so that the recent stitched piercing isn´t burden unnecessary. There is the possibility to expand the nipple piercing to apply bigger jewellery. Often it´s apprehend that women with nipple piercings get problems to breast-feed a baby, but this is unfounded whilst you remove the jewellery during the breastfeeding.
The healing takes about 2 to 6 months.
For jewellery there are straight piercing barbells, piercing rings (BCR / CBR / segement rings) or different nipple shields which are suited.
