The Madonna piercing sits on the left or on the right above the upper lip.

Because there it gives the impression by a beauty spot it´s also described as Chrome Crawford, Marilyn or Monroe piercing. Because the piercing is stitched through muscular tissue there can arise a bigger swelling than in other parts of face.

As with all other piercings in the part of the mouth it is advised to waive on alcohol and tobacco during the first 24 hours after stitching.

The healing takes about 4 to 7 weeks.

For jewellery mainly labret studs are applied.
